The School of Microelectronics of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) was founded in April 2013, focusing on the graduated education in microelectronics area. Under the “Research + Education” system of UCAS, the Institute of Microelectronics of Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMECAS) runs the school. The school was named as the National Demonstrative School of Microelectronics by the Ministry of Education in 2015, and became a member of the Alliance of National Demonstrative School of Microelectronics.

The school takes the advantages of a collaboration of education and industry in IMECAS. With leading companies, such as SMIC and XMC, involved in, some of postgraduate courses are taught by industry experts. After two-semester course study, many students go to companies to get industry training for more than one year. The school will create the microelectronics engineering training bases with leading companies for senior students of universities in Xiamen and other cities around China. Some students will go abroad universities, such as the University of California in Las Angeles. We invite overseas experts to give courses or lectures, or to hold seminars through a program of the Chinese IC Personnel International Training Center, which is a division of the school.

With the challenges and opportunities to build up a first-class school in domestic, the school will continue to promote the cooperation with both IMECAS and industry, and try new models of diversification education. Within 10 years, the school will graduate a number of well-educated students with rich industry experiences to meet the “Made in China for 2025”strategic of the national microelectronics industry.
