The Chinese multicrystalline solar wafer manufacturer announced that it has successfully completed the first production run and initiated production ramp-up of operations of the first 5000 MT train in its polysilicon plant.

LDK Solar Co. Ltd. (Xinyu City, China), which manufactures multicrystalline solar wafers, announced that it has successfully completed the first production run and initiated production ramp-up of operations of the first 5000 MT train in its polysilicon plant.
LDK broke ground on the site in 2007, and completed its first 1000 MT run in January this year. The plant has an annual capacity of 15,000 MT.

A ceremony was held to mark the occasion, with Xiaofeng Peng, LDK Solar's chairman and CEO, congratulating the team.
"We are pleased to successfully complete our first production run and begin to ramp manufacturing at our state-of-the-art 15,000 MT polysilicon plant," said Nick Sarno, senior vice president of manufacturing and polysilicon plant project manager. "The construction of this facility has been an unprecedented undertaking for many of us in attendance."
The ceremony was also attended by Su Rong, secretary of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee, Wu Xinxiong, governor of Jiangxi, and other government officials, as well as customers, suppliers and members of LDK Solar's polysilicon project team.
